DNA was extracted from winter buds using the CTAP method. In the 330 Mb genome assembly, 128 Mb were repeated sequences and 29,338 genes, 60.8%, are supported by genome sequences. A whole-genome shotgun sequencing strategy was used on *M. notabilis*, which contained seven distinct pairs of chromosomes which were found in the somatic cells. A shotgun sequencing strategy was used on *M. ntobilis*, which returned a total of 78.34 billion high quality base pairs which were assembled into a 330..79 Mb genome with a N50 length of 390,115 bp, the contig N50 length is 34,476.
