Reference Genome V1.5
Stevens et al. produced draft genomes for Juglans regia, five additional Juglans species (J. nigra, J. sigillata, J. microcarpa, J. catheyensis, and J. hindsii) and the related species Pterocarya stenoptera. This J. regia assembly is not annotated and is available for download only.

Quantitative phenotyping of shell suture strength in walnut (Juglans regia L.) enhances precision for detection of QTL and genome-wide association mapping
This work describes a quantitative phenotyping method for measuring suture strength in walnut shells. Genetic analyses were performed including QTL mapping and genome-wide association mapping for walnut trees in the UC Davis walnut improvement program.
